Who doesn’t love Legos? I certainly love them and now that I have a five year old son, Legos are littered all over my living room floor. But you wont see me complaining. I love spending hours building new and random things to play with only to tear them apart and build a new one from the scrapes.
I decided to search the internet for CAD on these awesome little building blocks and I sure did find some good models. I used the CAD I found and remodeled, surfaced and lit them using 3DS Max. I then rendered several different scenes in order to show off each model.
The animation I did of the Ghostbusters car was a simple wrap around animation with each piece building in. It was hard to keep all the pieces moving at the correct pace and to not knock into each other as they flew in. Once I had the animation down I took it into After Effects and put some cool filters on it.
Creating imagery for toys has always been a dream from me. I hope that one day I will be able to do this kind of work for the big dogs at Hasbro, Mattel or Playmates. Creating 3D animations would be the ultimate score as I love to animate and I love these toys.
Emmet: You don’t have to be the bad guy. You are the most talented, most interesting, and most extraordinary person in the universe. And you are capable of amazing things. Because you are the Special. And so am I. And so is everyone. The prophecy is made up, but it’s also true. It’s about all of us. Right now, it’s about you. And you… still… can change everything. – Lego Movie – 2014
Everything is Awesome!! I love the lego movie and I love how they created a world out of living toys. Imagination is a wonderful thing and I feel like I tapped into a little of that when I created these images.
